Hi folks, I hope you’re getting into weekend mode at this stage – there’s a few Budvars with my name on them in my fridge anyway. However, as you’re kicking back for the weekend I thought I’d remind you that this weekend, and indeed over the course of the next week we have a massive TV sale at over at Komplett.ie, with discounts of up to €140 on certain models.

There’s €140 off the Samsung UE32C6700 in the sale at Komplett.ie

We’ll be having a proper run through the merits of some of the TVs on offer – from industry stalwarts such as Samsung, Sony and Philips – on Monday, but for now have a gander yourself to see if anything takes your fancy.

Have a good one!

TV Sale This Weekend

Posted on 26 February 2010 by Komplettie

As the rain pelts down outside it’s looking it might be a weekend on the couch for many of us. In fact I’d be pretty certain that most of us will end up flaking out in front of the TV at some stage in the next few days, whether it’s in front of the rugby, admiring Marty Whelan’s moustache on Winning Streak or catching up on a box set.

This 42-inch model from Philips comes with a 10% discount this weekend at Komplett.ie

With that in mind, our sister site Komplett.ie has decided to put on an excellent sale for LCD and LED TVs with loads of 10% discounts available on top of the range Sony, Samsung and Philips models. Amongst the TVs that have had a tenth of their price knocked off, there’s the Samsung’s 32-inch LCD-TV LE32B450, now priced at €363; the 42-inch Philips LCD-TV 42PFL5624H/12 for €636.99; and the 37-inch Samsung LED-TV UE37B6000 for €967.00.

There’s also an 11% discount on the 37-inch Sony Bravia LCD-TV KDL-37W5500 which now comes in at €773. You don’t even have to get off the couch to order them for crying out loud, what’s not to like.

Company Update:

Posted on 12 January 2010 by komplettie

As you may have seen, Komplett has today sold our BV unit which includes Komplett.ie, Komplett.nl and Komplett.be to ParaDigit BV.

Firstly, I’d like to say that from a personal perspective as country manager for Ireland I think this is a positive move, and I think it will bring real benefits both to our business and to our customers in the very near future. On April 1st the deal will be formally concluded and we will transfer into the ParaDigit group, so for the moment there’ll be no immediate changes or effects noticeable from a customer perspective.

From the first of April, we will be moving forward with what I expect to be an extremely interesting and exciting plan to expand the business. Our plan, long term, in Ireland, is to be remain the market leader in e-commerce in what is a relatively small but fast-growing market for internet shopping.

In September of 2008 we opened a local office here and since then have been growing both our team and our presence here, including our Dublin Pickup Point which has been growing from strength to strength in this time.

I fully expect the future to be a bright one for Komplett.ie and it’s one that we internally are very excited about. We hope that you will see, in the coming months, the benefits of this deal as a customer.

Aaron McKenna, Country Manager, Komplett Ireland

Prey Sold Out… on Steam

Posted on 31 December 2009 by komplettie

Thanks to a massive price drop as part of its Christmas sale, Steam has managed, bizarrely, to end up “Sold Out” of 2K Games’ portal-throwing first person shooter, Prey.

Strange stuff...

One of the biggest reasons to opt with digital distribution for games is convenience, not only on the part of the end user, but for the distributor itself. Steam’s model, one would have thought, prevents it from ever having to post a sold out sign, since games should be practically infinitely reproducible. Apparently that’s not the case for 2K Games’ Prey, though so far the reason seems to be a little vague.

Steam Christmas Sale Gets Moving

Posted on 23 December 2009 by komplettie

Steam has moved to start another massive sale for over the Christmas block that we thought you guys might be interested in. If nothing else, check out the complete packs that the company is selling with some hefty price drops.

Steam has made a name for itself this year as a service willing to offer genuinely shocking discounts, both when it comes to Valve’s own games (selling Team Fortress 2 for $2.50 for a while) and when it comes other publishers’ it manages to get on board for big price drops. The thanksgiving sale was impressive in that regard, but the Christmas sale is equally worth checking out.

Christmas Order Notes

Posted on 15 December 2009 by komplettie

Hey there all, we’ve got some notes to post for those of you who are hoping to place an order before Christmas but, like me, are the kind to keep putting things off until it’s just a bit too late.

For anyone who really wants to make sure that they’ve got something ordered in time for it to arrive by Christmas, orders to our Dublin Pickup Point will have to be in before 1300 on the 22nd of December*. As long as you get in before then, you should be fine.

However, if you’re looking to order something via An Post then you’ll have to have your order in before 1300 on the 21st*, just because these things take a little longer when they’re being shuttled around the countryside ;)

Apart from all that, we’d like you guys to know that we’re running an extended Cooling Off period for things bought over Christmas, because we understand that a lot of earlier orders won’t have been received until Christmas day, some returns will be delayed by the holidays, etc.

Special Offers – Week of December 7th

Posted on 07 December 2009 by komplettie

Good afternoon all, hopefully the weekend treated you well, though judging from Twitter over the course of the morning it seems that last night might have gone a little too well for some of us ;) Anyway, we generally tend to kickstart the blog on a Monday afternoon with a post just to go into some detail on exactly what you guys can get out of our special offers during the week.

This week, we’ve got offers on a Logitech all-in-one remote, some Sennheiser headphones and an iPod dock. Without any more delay, we’ll just get stuck into it.

Logitech Harmony 525:

Logitech’s Harmony series has long been seen as a kind of holy grail for those of us who can’t resist the urge to adding “just one more” device to a media centre, and the resulting mountain of clutter that the remotes for the various hardware we acquire constitutes.

Click through to see our page for the Logitech Harmony 525 :)

Logitech’s Harmony 525 has been around for a fair while now, but it still boasts the combination of a wide range of buttons, a decently sized LCD and relative ease-of-use that made it such a temptation when it first launched. Of course, it tops out at 15 devices, so for those of you who’ve really gone overboard on the media centre, you might not quite fit everything in there. Otherwise, you should be just fine.

Moreover, the fact that it boasts support for single options to control multiple devices means that you can, with a little tinkering, set it up so that you can come home from work, press one button and have everything come on at the same time, already on a channel you’re happy with and at a volume you can appreciate… sometimes it’s the little things.

Of course, there are newer versions of the Harmony available, but they’ll set you back by some seriously hefty sums by comparison. The only issue we can see with it for now is that it won’t control a PS3, if you’re using it as a Blu-Ray player, since it doesn’t boast Bluetooth connectivity, though we imagine that isn’t likely to be a deal-breaker at this stage.

For this week, Logitech’s Harmony 525 is down by 20% to the €39 mark, which is hard to argue with really.

Steam Launches Massive Sale

Posted on 26 November 2009 by komplettie

For all of those angry to have missed the days when Valve dropped Team Fortress 2 to €2.50, your chance to get in on the new sale on Steam is starting today, with Steam announcing some fairly impressive price cuts.

New sale has offers you just can't manage without digital distribution :D

Timed to coincide with Black Friday, more than once referred to as “the most dangerous shopping day of the year” in the US, the latest Steam sale sees many of the most popular games of the last year discounted fairly heavily. The vastly successful, and many will argue solid contender for game of the year, Batman: Arkham Asylum has been dropped by 50%, and there are plenty of other similar deals to be had.
