Top 3 products we want!

Posted on 02 September 2010 by komplettie

In the Komplett office, we’re constantly reminded of things we can’t afford. That is not my way of saying we’re underpaid, it is my way of telling you guys that we all spend far too much of our disposable income on sweets and rent. Which in turn, leaves us poorer than we’d like.

Making Shelton jealous since 2010

With that in mind, I figured I’d venture down to the Pick-Up Point and RMA Lab and find out just what it is that the hearts of men desire.

HP spending money again, this time in fines

Posted on 31 August 2010 by komplettie

Hewlett-Packard has agreed to pay $55m (£35m) to settle claims that it defrauded the US government by paying “kickbacks” to other technology companies to recommend its products, and by overcharging federal agencies.

The worlds biggest computer manufacturer, locked in a battle with Dell to acquire 3Par, denied that it had broken the law, but the US department of justice (DoJ) hailed the decision as a victory against contractors who failed to deal fairly with the government.

Toshiba unveils and names Folio 100 SmartPad

Posted on 30 August 2010 by komplettie

Last week, it seemed like every second news story was related to tablet PCs. With massive sales of the iPad, it seemed that every manufacturer worth their salt, and a few who aren’t, were getting into a once dead area that is now inexplicably a “boom area”.

Ignoring any suggestion that the boom is attributed to brand loyalty, Apple’s all-conquering marketing or product as fashion statement, manufacturers are ploughing into the re-emerging market.

Paul Allen suing, well, lots of people.

Posted on 30 August 2010 by komplettie

Microsoft founder Paul Allen, who in  terms of media and public exposure is very much the other lad from Wham!, is suing a host of tech companies for alleged patent infringement.

Paul Allen (right) with Bill Gates and a magnificent beard.

The legal action against Apple, Yahoo, Facebook, Google and eBay, as well as six other firms, asserts that web technologies first developed by Interval Licensing, a company Allen founded in the 90′s, have been infringed upon.

Games history to be recognised

Posted on 26 August 2010 by komplettie

The debate over the relevance of computer games will probably run longer than a Bioware RPG, but one thing is for certain; the industry is inching closer and closer to mainstream acceptance as an art form.

So much so, that US Smithsonian agrees.

HP acquires Stratavia

Posted on 26 August 2010 by komplettie

HP have taken another step to prove it is a buyers market.

Currently locking horns with Dell for the attentions of Data Centre giant 3Par (though probably not while both using pugel sticks on top of a shaky platform, which is a shame.) has acquired Stratavia, a database and application automation outfit.

Facebook worth more than eBay, Dell and Yahoo?

Posted on 26 August 2010 by komplettie

My word. August is the silly season, but really? Facebook worth more than companies that, you know, actually DO something?

That’s the word ahead of Facebook’s flotation on the US stock exchange, anyway.

Be the best in a war game by having no kills?

Posted on 25 August 2010 by komplettie

Gamers do some strange things. Like spend hours yelling at strangers on the internet because they possess a magical amulet you desire or start chanting the score after another perfectly executed free kick finds it’s way into the top corner.

I predict a riot shield.

But one man is taking it just a little bit further, trying to reach the top level on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 without killing a single person.

New Generation Re-Kindles passion

Posted on 25 August 2010 by komplettie

Let me start by saying I am sorry. So very sorry for that awful pun. I was trained in a tabloid newspaper, that’s my defence. But that’s not the story here.

Kindle; bookface.

The real story is that Amazon has announced that more “next generation Kindles were ordered in the first four weeks of availability than in the same timeframe following any other Kindle launch, making the new Kindles the fastest-selling ever.”
