TomTom Leads You to the Dark Side

Posted on 04 May 2010 by jjkomplett in News

A few weeks after Billy Connolly unleashed his tones on the satnav market, comes the far more exciting news that you can now be guided around the country by the voice of the dark side himself, Darth Vader.

You'd have faith that he has a good sense of direction to be fair.

Yep, TomTom has announced that it will be offering Star Wars voices for some of its GPS devices and first up is Anakin Skywalker himself.

According to SlashGear, an authentic sounding Vader voice “tells you where to go and leads you down the path to the dark side and your final destination”. Other Star Wars voices will be coming as well.

You will be able to choose from C-3PO in June, Yoda in July, and Han Solo in August. The voices will all sell for just over €9 (more details here) and you can get free content for start screens, car icons and more to go along with the voices.

Very appropriate for today… May the 4th be with you!

Darth Vader sounded ok until i listen to the samples, they’re trying to sound clear at the expense of sounding like Darth Vader.
    Still, Chewie might be good.

Marc: It’s a shame, they should just skip it altogether and make it sound more like Vader…

If “left turn 200 meters” became “Apology accepted Captain Needa” I’d be alright with that ;)

Though it’s one of the worst moments of the six movies I’d kinda like it if everytime you missed a turn it gave a big ‘noooooooooooooooooooooo’ ala the end of Revenge of the Sith. JJ
