Business Time for Asus

It’s business time over at Asus, with its new ‘B Series’ range of notebooks heading to market. Aimed at business users, they boast Sonata batteries from Boston-Power which promise a superior ability to retain more of the charging capacity over time than conventional laptop batteries, in fact they give users “triple the lifespan of typical notebook batteries,” according to Asus.

One of the B53s; not to be confused with the B52s who had their finest hour with the hit single, ‘Love Shack’ in 1989.

The B Series contains the B53J, B53F, B43J, and B43F. The 53 models have 15.6-inch screens and the 43 units are 14.1-inch notebooks. The four Asus models will all run Intel Core processors, with the default CPU being the Core i5-520M.

The B43J and B53J will also be available with a Core i7-620M processor. While the B53F comes with integrated Intel graphics, the other laptops feature an ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 graphics card; all sport LED-backlit displays.

As ZDnet notes, the B Series becomes a little less exciting when you find out there’s only 2GB of RAM included, as well as a small-ish 320GB hard drive. Hardly enough for any serious business user is it? All models do however boast some nice extras like Intel’s vPro, alongside anti-theft, and trusted platform module technologies.

The B53 models are apparently already shipping in the US and they should be over here soon. In yankie dollars the they start at $1,099 (about €840, though expect a mark up by the time they reach Irish shores). Pricing and availability of the B43 laptops have yet to be announced.
