The design won’t be to everyone’s taste but we’re definitely fans of the Acer refresh on its Predator gaming desktop – the Aspire Predator AG7750. The mish-mash of orange and black gives the whole thing a cool industrial look (and reminds us of this David O’Doherty song) but of course it’s what’s under the very loud hood that matters.
For around €1,600, it has a new quad-core Intel Core i7 930 processor featuring Turbo Boost technology. Apart from that, Acer has also added Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 graphics card with 448 CUDA cores and 1280MB GDDR5 dedicated video memory. Meanwhile, the motherboard is capable of holding two more cards and hence one can set up a triple-SLI configuration.
“In short, this machine is one heck of a gaming power house capable of playing all the recent DirectX 11 based games,” says a report over on TechTree. The machine is packed with 12GB of RAM along with 1.5TB 7200RPM HDD for storage.
“The exterior of the Predator desktop chasis design seems to be inspired from a hypothetical alien ship. It features new two-part liquid-cooling system. For connectivity, Aspire G7750 Predator offers 11 USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire port, two eSATA ports, two Ethernet ports, two DVI-D ports, TV out port and six audio jack ports,” adds TechTree.
The PC also supports 3D when bundled with a 3D-ready screen and the NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses. It should be available Europe-wide by the end of the week.
