A few years ago I witnessed the quite, quite disturbing sight of a bloke in his forties attempting to sing ‘Stan’ in possibly the dingiest pub I’ve ever been in. Thankfully though, that man never has to bother the greater public again with his hip hop stylings due to the impending release of Def Jam Rapstar.
Using the language of the street, PC World has said that Konami will “drop” its hip-hop music game Def Jam Rapstar in the US on October 5 with a European release set for exactly a month after.
Def Jam Rapstar will come bundled with a microphone and sell for $70 (€57.50) Stateside on the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the Wii version costing $60 (just over €49). Additionally, several tracks have been announced for the game, though another 20 or so are set to be confirmed over the summer. There will also be a freestyle option for those who’d like to make their own addition to the world of hip hop.
Notes the PC World piece, “With EA and Activision likely dropping their next music games this fall, Konami is looking to provide an alternative to rock.” The last alternative to rock, Activision’s DJ Hero, didn’t exactly set any sales records though so Konami can only hope people really are ready for something different this time around.
