Ultra-thin laptops using Intel’s new Core i-series processors will go on sale at the start of June, the chipmaker announced today. Intel said it expected more than 40 ultra-thin notebooks with Core i-series processors to appear “at a variety of price points” from June. Manufacturers will include Acer, Asus, Lenovo and MSI.

ZDnet reports that the Core i3, i5 and i7-based slim-line notebooks will have integrated high-definition graphics capabilities and will use Intel’s “Turbo Boost technology to automatically accelerate performance when needed”.

Intel PC client chief Mooly Eden said in the statement that the company’s “leadership in 32nm high-k metal gate (HKMG) process technology, combined with breakthrough architecture and design has enabled thinner, lighter and faster notebooks than previous models, with terrific battery life.”

The new processors include the Core i3-330UM, Core i5-540UM, i7-660UM, and Pentium U5400 and according to Intel, the 32nm ultra-low voltage (ULV) processors are more than 32% smaller and offer 32% better performance than their Core 2 Duo predecessors, while offering 15% less battery consumption.

Sounds like a good combination to us anyway.
