Internet security firm Webroot has announced it is to establish its international headquarters in Dublin, creating 50 jobs over the next two years.
An IDA announcement on the move was released today which reveals that the new operation will act as the headquarters for all of Webroot’s global business outside of the US. Its initial activities will include sales, marketing, localisation, engineering, inventory and fulfilment, customer support, and certain shared services functions.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O’Keefe TD congratulated the IDA on working closely with Webroot “to secure the win for Ireland and provide 50 high-quality jobs over the next two years”.
Dick Williams, CEO of Webroot meanwhile said that “Establishing an international headquarters in Ireland will give us access to top talent and enable us to expand our global footprint to become the best company in the world at delivering security as a service.”
CEO of the IDA Barry O’Leary added that, “Webroot is a technological leader in the emerging and exciting area of Cloud Computing which is a strategic focus for IDA and is a priority for development and support.”
Webroot, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, was established in 1997. The company develops Internet security solutions for consumers and businesses. With a range of endpoint and Software-as-a-Service security products, Webroot protects corporate networks from online and internal threats and enables consumers to download music, store digital files, bank, shop, and search safely.
It is a privately held company backed by some of the industry’s leading VC firms including Technology Crossover Ventures, Accel Partners and Mayfield. Webroot currently employs more than 400 people worldwide at locations in the US, Western Europe, Japan and Australia.
